Welcome to Albuquerque SANE.
The Albuquerque SANE Collaborative serves sexual assault
and domestic violence victims by providing immediate, compassionate, culturally sensitive, and comprehensive medical
treatment and forensic evaluation by nurse experts.
Victims of sexual assault and domestic violence are provided
care in an empowering setting that addresses emotional and medical needs. All care is comprehensive, timely and
patient centered. Our services are always confidential and free and available 24 hours
a day. In most cases, reporting to law enforcement is voluntary.
An exam may be scheduled
by the patient, local police, hospital, family, friends and advocates by calling our dispatch phone number 505-884-SANE
(7263). The nurse examiner will perform the medical/forensic exam in a caring, respectful
and supportive manner. An advocate is available to provide other support and information to the patient and their family
and friends during the exam process.
After the exam the patient can shower in a private area and will be provided a new change of clothing, if
they choose to have their clothing held as evidence.
Our location
The Albuquerque SANE Collaborative is located at 625 Silver Ave SW -
2nd Floor, Albuquerque, NM. This is the location of the new Albuquerque Family Advocacy Center. We are one of
many community providers located at this site serving survivors of interpersonal violence. Most of the agencies we refer
our patients to are located in the same building and can be accessed immediately if the patient's exam is conducted during
the day. However, since many of our patients are served after hours a return trip to the Family Advocacy Center is often
necessary.
When seeking services at the Family Advocacy Center there is metered parking in the front and on the
side of the building. You can also park for free
at the end of 7th St (just south of Silver SW), enter the building, go up to the second floor and get
a day pass which will eliminate the need to use the parking meter.
