The Albuquerque SANE Collaborative serves patients who have experienced sexual and domestic violence by providing prompt, compassionate, culturally sensitive, and comprehensive medical treatment and forensic documentation by nurse experts within a coordinated community response.



Who We Are

Albuquerque Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) Collaborative is a team of staff, nurses, and volunteers who are committed to addressing violence in our community. We provide care in a safe setting that empowers patients. We address the emotional and medical needs of our patients. All care is trauma-informed and patient-centered. We have access to translation services and employ Spanish-speaking SANEs. Reporting to law enforcement is never required. Our services are always confidential, free, and available 24/7.

  • To appropriately refer victims for immediate and follow up counseling and medical care.

  • To assess, document and provide care for injuries.

  • To evaluate pregnancy risk and offer prevention.

  • To provide treatment for sexually transmitted infections.

  • To protect the sexual assault and domestic violence victim from further harm.

  • To provide timely, thorough, and professional forensic evidence collection, documentation, and preservation.

  • To photo document injuries

  • To provide testimony in a court of law when needed.

  • To provide follow-up care, education, and resource referral
